WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Granted Permission to Appeal Extradition

Subheading: US Seeking to Extradite Assange for Espionage

Permission Granted by London Court

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was granted permission on Monday to launch a full appeal against his extradition to the United States. The US government is seeking to extradite Assange and try him for espionage.

Assange's lawyers have argued that his extradition would violate his freedom of speech and press rights. They also argue that he could face life imprisonment or even the death penalty if convicted in the US.

The London court said that Assange can appeal the extradition decision on four grounds: that the extradition order is unlawful; that it would violate his human rights; that it is politically motivated; and that he would not receive a fair trial in the US.

The full appeal process is expected to take several months.
